Tony Hunter

Tony Hunter graduated BDS from Otago University in 1979. He then spent 2 years working at the Auckland Hospital dental Department and then spent a further 2 years in general dental practice in Auckland. In 1984 he returned to the Dental faculty at Otago University where in 1985 he completed a Masters Degree (MDS). After spending an additional year as a lecturer teaching within the Restorative department in Dunedin he left to spend 2 years teaching in the Department of Restorative Dental Sciences at King Saud University in Saudi Arabia. In 1988 he became a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (FRACDS).

In 1988 he returned to Auckland and was a principal in a private general dental practice in Mt Eden. In 1993 he joined the Restorative Department at Otago University as a senior Lecturer. He returned to Auckland in 1994 and spent 2 years working in general practice before joining his brother Alan in their specialist Prosthodontic practice in Remuera.

Tony has published in international journals and lectured widely within New Zealand on Restorative Dentistry & Prosthodontics. He was President of the New Zealand Association of Prosthodontists and Restorative Dentists from 2004-2006.
